Honoring the Cuban tradition of nombrete—and the house's stature and color in relation to a certain children's book—Perro Grande stands tall at the edge of Chelsea. Situated on the corner of Crescent Avenue and fully remodeled in 2019, the house features three apartments, each with an expansive living room, a pantry, and a recently finished rear deck area. Perro Grande is near the highway—and the beach!—a quick drive to the nearby Market Basket, and surrounded by friendly neighbors. With Broadway a three-minute walk away, it does not get easier than this to be immersed in the vibrancy of Chelsea!
Amenities include in-house coin-op laundry and rentable basement storage. Outside parking spots, and occasionally a garage, are also available for rent upon request. Pets are welcome—they make the place that much more special.
As a three-family home that's a world in itself, Perro Grande keeps me busy, but fulfilled. As I say in the Zillow listing, "Managed by an accessible local landlord, paying rent here will buy you the peace of mind to know that you, your apartment, and the house are being taken care of and improved constantly." Since buying the house, I have built out three storage units in the basement, amplified the parking area outside, set up in-house laundry, and put together new communal areas for shared use. And while hard knocks are likely to come along the way, I have many new amenities and upgrades planned for Perro Grande in the years ahead.
